Words of wisdom spoken by Kipp Crawford, who sadly, was killed this week by drunk drivers in Portland, OR. Kipp Crawford was the drummer in Ruby Dee and The Snakehandlers from 2006 to 2008 along with bassist Sean Hudson, and toured with us several times across the United States and Europe. Both Kipp and Sean recorded on our Dionysus Records release MILES FROM HOME, and were instrumental in our efforts to establish Ruby Dee and The Snakehandlers outside of the Pacific Northwest. Kipp was kind, smart, quiet, had the wisdom of a “jedi master”, and a fantastic sense of humor. He was 31 years old. Aside from a great personality, he was a talented drummer and producer/engineer in the Portland area, and performed with Celilo, Thanks Kipp, and The Fractal Quintet.
Kipper, it was a pleasure to know you and to share the stage with you, my friend. You will be missed – we will drink the nectar “from the land of sky blue waters” in your honor.
I won’t repeat the story here, but here’s the link to the article in The Oregonian.
